How to take a screenshot in Windows 10 Even if you know perfectly well how the screenshots are made, I am almost sure that in this article you will find some new ways for you to take a screenshot in Windows 10, and without using third-party programs: only by means offered by Microsoft.

For very beginners: a screenshot of the screen or its area can be useful if you need someone to demonstrate something on it depicted. It represents an image (snapshot) that you can save on your disk, send by e-mail to share on social networks, use in documents, etc.

Note: to take a screen shot on a tablet with Windows 10 without a physical keyboard, you can use the key combination Win + volume down button. Print Screen key and its combinations

The first way to create a screenshot of a desktop or a program window in Windows 10 is to use the Print Screen key, which is usually on the top right of the keyboard of a computer or laptop, and may have an abbreviated signature option, for example, PrtScn.

When you press it, a screenshot of the entire screen is placed in the clipboard (that is, in memory), which you can then paste using the standard Ctrl + V key combination (or the menu of any Edit - Paste program) into a Word document, as an image in graphic editor Paint for the subsequent saving of the picture and almost any other program that supports work with images.

If you use the Alt + Print Screen key combination, then the clipboard will take a snapshot of not the entire screen, but only the active program window.

And the last option: if you do not want to deal with the clipboard, but want to take a screenshot immediately as an image, then in Windows 10, you can use the Win key combination (OS logo key) + Print Screen. After pressing it, the screenshot will be immediately saved to the Images - Screenshots folder.

Saved screenshots The author recommends reading: A new way to take a screenshot in Windows 10 Creators Update

In the Windows 10 update version 1703 (April 2017), there is an additional way to take a screenshot - the key combination Win + Shift + S.

When you press these keys, the screen is shaded, the mouse pointer changes to a “cross” and with the help of it, holding the left mouse button, you can select any rectangular area of the screen whose screenshot you want to take.

Creating a screenshot in Windows 10 Creators Update

After the mouse button is released, the selected area of the screen is placed on the clipboard and can be pasted in a graphic editor or in a document. Scissors screenshots program

In Windows 10 there is a standard program Scissors, which allows you to easily create snapshots of the screen (or the entire screen), including with a delay, edit them and save in the desired format.

To launch the Scissors application, find it in the “All Programs” list, and easier - start typing the name of the application in the search.

Scissors application in Windows 10

After launch, you have the following options: By clicking on the arrow in “Create”, you can choose what kind of snapshot you want to take - free-form, rectangle, full screen. In the “Delay” item you can set the delay of the screen shot for a few seconds.

After the snapshot is taken, a window with this screenshot will open, to which you can add certain annotations with a pen and a marker, erase any information and, of course, save (in the file-save as) menu as an image file desired format (PNG, GIF, JPG).

Save and Edit Screenshot Win + G Gamepad

In Windows 10, when you press the Win + G key combination in programs that are deployed in full screen, the game panel opens, allowing you to record screen video and, if necessary, take a screen shot using the appropriate button on it or keyboard shortcuts (by default - Win + Alt + Print Screen).

Screenshot in the game panel

If you don’t open such a panel, check the settings of the standard XBOX application, this function is managed there, plus it may not work if your video card is not supported or if drivers are not installed for it. Microsoft Snip Editor

About a month ago, as part of its project Microsoft Garage, the company introduced a new free program for working with screenshots in the latest versions of Windows - Snip Editor.

In terms of functionality, the program is similar to the Scissors mentioned above, but adds the ability to create audio annotations to screenshots, intercepts pressing the Print Screen key in the system, automatically starting to create a snapshot of the screen area and simply has a more pleasant interface (by the way, to a greater extent suitable for touch devices than the interface of other similar programs, in my opinion).

Microsoft Snip Editor

At the moment, Microsoft Snip has only an English version of the interface, but if you're interested in trying something new and interesting (and also if you have a tablet with Windows 10), I recommend. You can download the program on the official page https://mix.office.com/Snip

In this article, I did not specify a lot of third-party programs that also allow you to take screenshots and have advanced functions (Snagit, Greenshot, Snippy, Jing, and many others). Perhaps I will write about this in a separate article. On the other hand, you can even look at the software just mentioned (I tried to mark the best representatives).

And suddenly it will be interesting:

Previously, the icon of the screen poked out what was needed and everything, but now I can’t even find it, why should I take a snapshot of the entire screen and then cut it off too much for a beginner.

In the search on the taskbar type "Scissors", you probably had in mind. Or you had some kind of application for screenshots.

Useful, but it’s all there and in Windows 8.1, nothing new was invented

Hello, accidentally moved the “Screenshots” folder (dragged) to another disk, it cannot be activated again, recovery points for this moment did not exist, tell me what to do, reinstall the OS or is there an easier way? Thank.

Why activate it somehow? Click Win + Print Screeen and again you will have this folder in the right place.

This “Screenshots” folder in Explorer - “This Computer” - “Images” does not appear (as it was by default, when you successively click Win + Print Screeen). Now, when you successively click Win + Print Screeen, a snapshot occurs, but it is only visible in OneDrive (Explorer - OneDrive - Images - Screenshots) Reinstalled the OS, the same picture.

Here it is. Then, I suspect that this is some kind of setting that I don’t know about. And what has been preserved after reinstalling the OS is due to the synchronization of settings in the Microsoft account.

After installing Windows 10, when I start, I get this message: The previously installed version of ESET NOD32 Antivirus cannot be transferred to Windows 10. To save protection, install the new version.
But the antivirus works fine. Tell me how to remove this message?

In general, it is better to remove the antivirus before updating. But if they didn’t, then the correct path would be: remove ESET from the computer. Put a new version. Just problems may arise, not very related to the work of the antivirus. Examples of problems when moving to Windows 10 with NOD32 antivirus: the locations of icons are not saved, problems with the connection to the Internet for some programs.

You have updated the system itself, and the antivirus thinks that it is an old system but with some kind of “bug fixes”:)
As an exit for you, reinstall the antivirus.

Isn't the Lightshot set to 10? C'mon, I rolled back to 8. As for ESET, I’ll say as experienced, although Dmitry has already answered: Windows needs to be updated completely, without antivirus, for sure. Take it down; you update an axis; you put antivir. And no bugs! Imagine! And if the hands are not able to do anything out of boredom, then you should not drive on a suitable software, because the first patch from the vendor put everything in place.

Greetings There is still a way, you need to click the share command (in the application) (upper left corner) and select “share screen shot”. True, you can only share in the mail. Dmitry, do not know how to expand the list of applications where you can send a screenshot (or files)?

What button PrintScSysRq does not make a screen shot?

Reply

Dmitry

This is the Print Screen key, which is discussed in the first ways. Simply, it is signed with you like this: on top of the signature is PrintSc (Print Screen, abbreviated to fit), below it is SysRq (for specific commands, it does not work in Windows, as far as I know). Those. you just misunderstand the key on the key and this is not PrintScSysRq, but two different signatures on the same key for different actions.

Hello. Against the background of the theme, I remembered one simple plugin that allows you to save screenshots of an entire or a piece of the screen, notes, memos, etc. in 2 clicks. This is a program from ... Very convenient. Moreover, everything is safely stored in the cloud and you from any device (if you remember the password) can find your notes, photos and send wherever you wish.

Hello. The link to the site has been deleted, and besides, it is not working (that is, you didn’t write it correctly). But even if I wrote it correctly, I would delete it: firstly, this is a browser extension, with which security problems often arise (and it also requires strange access), secondly, it has not been updated since 2014.
In general, there are thousands of such utilities, but I did not post the specific proposed option, because I cannot be 100 percent sure that everything in it is clean.

Hello. The link was written by a specialist in a crooked, so as not to delete. Leaf is the simplest and most convenient online screenshoter, microfilm and notepad in one bottle. For beginners and lazy - the most it. I did not quite understand what kind of "security problems and strange accesses" you are talking about. By registering your account (for your own security). In Chrome, Chromium or Opera browsers, a shortcut appears. In fact, a snapshot button with automatic sending it to your hosting with a description of the file (someone asked here) and your comments, if you like. Everything! More than a leaf anywhere does not climb into your computer, like One Drive. And does not create backup folders, as Ya.Disk. And it does not open access to all files (as in Radical) when you post one. And yes, it does not require endless updates. For the project has exhausted its tasks and completely copes with them without fail. I use it for about 5 years, normal flight. Files are stored with 2 computers, which already do not have me. So, if you find any shoals in the leaf, I will be glad to know about them. Maybe at leisure, write a micro-review about it. In general, I recommend "touch" service. Good luck!

Hello.
Here I spoke about these permissions: support.google.com/chrome_webstore/answer/186213?hl=en
Which requests this same leaf. In particular - viewing and changing data on the visited sites.

In general, extensions are quite a dangerous thing, even when “nowhere”, as you think, do not climb. Here, just at OneDrive, Yandex Drive and Google Drive in this regard, clean reputation and millions of users. Presented by you - 16 reviews (total) on the chrome webstore, i.e. It is impossible to judge reputation (and not everyone can learn the code), but the likelihood that something is not so great there (and this does not depend on private experience of use, even if you are happy with everything).

P.S. About Ya.Disk. Personally, I had a story when the left dude was putting his photos on my Ya.Disk. When contacting Yandex, no one gave me a clear answer. He deleted the photo, then again threw the cupcake on my server. Hacking was not! I figured out by code that it was a Yandex employee. Fine?. Voted feet.

Hello. So this is a standard Google reply, offering you to choose the degree of confidence in the plugin (and not the extension). From the same topic, when a user enters from a laptop via Wi-Fi and his IP address, Google sends an alert that “someone, perhaps you, have logged into your account ...” Google. Or maybe you entered the fake mirror. Offsite - a label of three small squares - yellow \ green \ red. Now I created a leaflet on Google with another mail (I usually go from Yandex) - without question. Google has not offered any requests for permission to access this data! (?) I ran through the first 50 pages in nete. I did not find a single negative feedback on the program. I myself do not belong to the developers of this software, do not take it as advertising. The software is worthy of attention, although few people know about it. Test it in virtual if everything is so scary for you.

Solved the problem like this: In the search drive I scored Snipping, threw out a lot of files, slammed one unlocker one at a time, after rebooting Snipping again, found several more files, slammed them too. After I typed xbox, I also crashed all the files and Lightshot earned without glitches.
